The Next Chapter @LittleWoodbatch
Little Woodbatch is entering its newest phase as a Community Interest Company (CIC)!
I know from my work that building food resilience needs to be happening at all levels, and including everyone.
So what are we aiming to do as a Farm CIC?
To bring people together as a community, reconnect with the land, gain skills and build up our local food resilience.
Because, let’s face it: the world is volatile, unpredictable, and complex.
We’ve become disconnected from land, food, skills and each other... and we’re poorer for it.
But we can do something about it.
So this is a calling back to the land, and reseeding the skills that many of us wish to reconnect with. It's about growing confidence at a time of instability, and cultivating community at a time of division.
In the Market Garden we’ll be seeding confidence and nurturing skills through a series of courses to get more people growing and building local food resilience.
The Community Orchard (planted in 2023) is growing up and will have its first harvests in 2026. We will be hosting orchard care, harvest days and community pressing days.
Seed security is the foundation of food security: We continue our mission to produce for The Bishop’s Castle Community Seed Bank & will be adding more training for seed savers, & infrastructure to increase seed production.
Grow Club 2026 is our first ‘Grow as we learn’ initiative with a cohort coming together once a month for the whole year. This is an exciting way to grow connection and enjoy time outside (the food really just a bonus!)
As time goes on we will add more courses and opportunities, but just like the first shoots of spring, hopeful things are stirring.
The Vision is:
A space for collaboration: to build skills for self-sufficiency, land stewardship, eco-literacy & connection - so that we can take an active role in building a more resilient, equitable & inclusive world.
Just like always, we’ll continue our work with local groups and projects, to offer a space for learning, heritage crafts and skills.
Once set up with more gathering spaces, we welcome inquiries about bookings for art sessions, yoga, and courses of all kinds.
Watch this space, and join us in tending the new growth of a better world!
